My name is Colin Mantell and I’m the new General Manager at the Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay. This is my first blog entry so I wanted to introduce myself to the staff, guests, and neighbors of the Oceanfront Suites. I am excited to take on this new role and become a part of this wonderful community. A long time Vancouver Island resident, I have a great fondness for all that this beautiful Island has to offer. Although I am new to the Cowichan Valley, I can already see how much I am going to enjoy being a part of this unique community.

Let me tell you a bit about myself. My passion is hospitality. In fact, it’s been my career since 1985. I began in the kitchen as a cook, then Chef de Partie and later as a Sous Chef in Switzerland. In 1991 I completed my Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration and began working in the office and operations of various hotels. I later completed my CRDE (Certified Rooms Division Executive) and my CHA (Certified Hotel Administrator). Since 2004, I was the Hotel Manager at the The Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa.

Lisa McCormick did a fantastic job over the past few years turning Oceanfront into the wonderful property we see today, and putting every effort into ensuring that Oceanfront is a true neighbor and member of the Cowichan community. She has built strong partnerships with many of the local businesses – wineries, shops, farms, contractors, and many more! As the new GM, my goal is to continue to build on everything Lisa has done.
