It Takes a Village!

This past Canada Day, we had an exciting evening at Oceanfront Suites.  Sketchy Black Dog came to perform at Terrain Regional Kitchen! This New York based jazz trio put on an amazing show that was very entertaining and engaging!

It was such a wonderful evening and it couldn’t have been possible if we didn’t have great partners working with us in the hotel.  So, I thought I’d take this blog to tell you more about some of the interesting people and businesses we have recently partnered with.

Terrain Regional Kitchen

This restaurant is located on the fifth floor of Oceanfront Suites and is owned and operated by Justin “JJ” Skidmore.  Justin has worked extensively in restaurants and I’m excited he chose Oceanfront Suites as the venue to open his first restaurant.

Terrain Regional KitchenThe concept for Terrain Regional Kitchen is to serve quality meals with carefully sourced ingredients from the local community. Each meal is prepared with the same care as the ingredients have been farmed, caught, or raised.

The food is absolutely delicious!  Some of my favorites are the black bean and quinoa burger and the pappardelle pasta.  (The pasta is made in house!)

Terrain also features a beautiful wine tasting room and boasts the only sunny patio in Cowichan Bay!

Ocean Glo Wellness Spa

Located on the first floor of Oceanfront Suites, Ocean Glo Wellness Spa is owned by Vicki Thompson.  Vicki is a great personality and she brings such warmth and joy to all of her guests.

She offers a range of services including massages, facials, and manicures and pedicures. I’ve had the opportunity to get a few treatments from Ocean Glo and they have been truly amazing.

You have to check out the newest addition of the Ocean Side Cabana – no where else can you go to get pampered while taking in the amazing views of Cowichan Bay!

One of her specialties is something called a Thai Stem Massage.  It’s a two hour massage where the therapist uses hands, knees, legs, or feet to move you into yoga-like stretches to allow blocked energy to flow.  In addition, hot compresses are used containing medicinal herbs.  This is one of Vicki’s most requested treatments and is a must try!

HeartMind Consulting

Dr. Tara Tunstall, registered psychologist and certified kundalini yoga instructor, brings a unique business called HeartMind Consulting to The Cove located on the third floor of our hotel.

Utilizing a variety of techniques, her services include stress and anxiety management, group and individual yoga sessions, and wellness retreats.

Imagine this:  doing yoga in the morning sunrise outside on our poolside patio overlooking Cowichan Bay and Mount Tzouhalem.  Call Tara up and it can be a reality!

I hope that you will take the time to come visit and chat with each one of our hotel partners.  I know they will be very happy to welcome you into their spaces and I am very happy to have welcomed them to the Oceanfront Suites family.

It really was a wonderful evening. I’m hoping this is the start of many similar events at the hotel.
