As I reflect on the past several months as the new General Manager at Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay, I realize how quickly time flies. The spring calves that I drive past everyday on my way to work are now nearly full grown. September is here, and the fall harvest is upon us. While looking forward to the cooler months ahead, I cannot help but reflect back on just how much has changed since I began my journey at Oceanfront Suites.
The old Oceanfront was a part of the Cowichan Bay community for many years, but it was past due for an upgrade. Now it has been undergoing a wonderful transformation that will be continuing over the next few years. We’ve refreshed our rooms with new sliding doors, beds, bedding, sofa beds and kitchen upgrades and renovated our pool. We also formed strategic alliances with some great partners who have set up shop in the hotel: Ocean Glo Wellness Spa, Terrain Regional Kitchen, and HeartMind Consulting. This truly isn’t the Oceanfront of the past!
As an ideal venue for a variety of community events, we are always looking for new and exciting ways to be a part of the Cowichan Bay community. We’ve already opened our doors for an open house, the Cowichan Wellness Expo, the Cowichan Wine & Culinary Festival and musicians Dave Hart and Sketchy Black Dog have played here live. We’re at the end of a busy summer season and we’ve had the pleasure of meeting vacationers and locals alike, and showing them all that we have become. It is an exciting time indeed.

But best of all, this is just the beginning. We have more events scheduled in the near future, plus wedding season will be here before we know it. I am so glad that I made the move to Cowichan Bay. I feel like I’ve really connected with the warm and generous people in this area. I can’t wait to see what the future brings!

Great blog. Can I ask if Oceansuites will be doing any Christmas Do’s?
I am hoping to get the neighbors and friends together for a shindig and wondered if the hotel would be doing any events by the table? (like we buy tickets for a dinner and dance for a table of 10 and we are fed and entertained? Obviously sharing the event with other groups or companies?).
