We are super excited to be hosting the Junior Culinary Team of Canada at Terrain Kitchen inside the Oceanfront Suites at Cowichan Bay on June 24, 2012.
Come and experience the delicious 4 course menu this talented young team will be preparing. It’s the same menu that they’ll present this October at the Culinary Olympics in Germany.
Our Junior Culinary Team Canada competed in the 35th World Association of Chefs (WACS) Congress in Daejeon, Korea on May 1st in the Restaurant of Provinces category, where they won Gold and placed 2nd overall.
The Junior National Culinary Team is made up of truly gifted culinarians, mostly based out of Vancouver. Being situated on the West Coast, the team has opportunities to play with flavours and products not typically seen throughout the rest of the country.
Their mentor, Chef John-Carlo (JC) Felicella, knows what it takes to be successful at competitions. He’s giving the Junior Team an education that they couldn’t get while anywhere else. With JC at the helm, and Tobias MacDonald as his right hand man, the team is heading into a promising next 18 months while they practice for the Culinary Olympics.
The evening at the Oceanfront will start at 6pm with a welcome glass of sparkling wine and appetizers. Local film producer Nick Versteeg has been following this team’s journey over the past year, and will showing video clips from the team’s competitions and events.
The first course will be served at 7pm. The chefs will introduce the dishes and explain their inspiration before each course.
